Lauren Murphy (clarinet)

Lauren Murphy is a graduate student at Georgia State University, majoring in Clarinet Performance. From Powder Springs, Georgia, she graduated from Illinois State University in 2013 with her BM in Music Therapy and Clarinet Performance. Lauren worked as a Music Therapist in early intervention, geriatrics, and with adults with developmental disabilities. In 2015, Lauren transitioned from music therapy work into freelance music performance and instruction, teaching at local schools and music stores across Metropolitan Atlanta, and accompanying St. Paul United Methodist church services on the guitar. An accomplished ringer specializing in 4-in-hand ringing, Lauren is a member of the Golden Bells of Atlanta, ringing across Atlanta primarily during the Christmas season. In 2012, Lauren performed in the ISU Concerto Competition with the Copland Concerto for Clarinet, placing in the top 5. Lauren’s interests include Romantic music, vegetable gardening, handbells, clarinet pedagogy, and hopes to one day own chickens and play the organ.
